PHOTOGRAPHER SCOTT ALAN JOHNSON Scott Alan Johnson has been taking pictures off and on since the mid 1970's when he was asked to help out with his high school year book. Back then his father gave him his first real camera, an Argus C3 from the 1950's. He and his father even built a black and white in their basement.
after a few years Scott lost interest and his mother was given back her basement laundry room space.
In 1995 Scott took a job as an Assignment Editor for a Cleveland television station and worked with some of Ohio's best news photojournalists. Being around photographers and video cameras all day put the photo bug back in Scott's eyes. Soon after taking that job he went out and bought a top consumer brand SLR camera and a few lenses. Scott found he couldn't get enough of this art form called Photography. Combining his love for nature and his photography Scott started spending most of his free time in the near by Cleveland Metroparks. Driving or hiking around the trails and back roads About this time Scott found himself collecting old cameras. Between his piles of photographs and the vintage cameras he was collecting there was little room around his apartment. Storing the cameras and prints in boxes was not what he wanted to do, but he didn't know of a way to combine the two. One day he was down in the park with his camera and stopped at a picnic table to read a photography magazine and have a little snack. A squirrel jumped up on the table and walked over the his camera and sniffed it. The squirrel didn't seam to mind that Scott was there, he just wanted to check out that camera. Scott watched as the squirrel put his paw on the camera body almost in the same way Scott did when he first got the camera. The squirrel looked up at him and then jumped down and ran off. This gave Scott an idea and the next day he was back at the same location with one of his old cameras and set it up for the squirrels. Within a short time several squirrels had come out and played with the old camera. Scott started taking their pictures and today he has over 100 different cute squirrel photos. Now people around the world can enjoyed the pictures here at the photographingsquirrels.com site.
