The Zenit brand cameras were manufactured
by the Krasnogorskiy Mekhanicheskiy Zavod
factory near Moscow in what was the Soviet Union.

Many Zenit cameras were lower cost alternatives
to the better known popular brands like Leica or Nikon.

The Official Zenit trademark and label was the property
of the Soviet Ministry of the Defensive Industry.
